After the Pogrom of 9/10 November 1938, Alfred Wiener collected 350 first-hand accounts of the attacks on synagogues, shops and homes, and of the arrests of Jewish people.

Many of these testimonies were written very soon after the events.One is dated 9 November 1938, so it was being written as the events took place.
